The Cubs' Report for the Week of Nov. 8th

Our class is participating in the Healthy Hawk Milers.  Here's what Mason wrote: "I did the Healthy Milers.  I did 4 or 5 laps.  You walk around a track."  One lap is 1/4 of a mile.  The class goal is to have everyone walk at least one mile.  Mrs. Pruzin is walking on Tuesdays with the children.

The students have a Poetry Folder.  They get a new poem every Friday.  Here's what Charlie wrote:  " We read a poem about Pilgrim children in our Poetry Folder."

This is what Diego wrote about Art class: "We made penguins.  We stuck sticky paper on a sponge and took it off and put it on paper and it stuck.  We made rainbows."

This is what Desirae wrote about a Thanksgiving quilt we made:  "First we think about what we are thankful for and then we wrote it. Next we traced it with a sharpie and then we colored the whole thing."  Mrs. Pruzin glued each square to make a quilt.

This is what Abby wrote about our riddle board:  "There are 9 or more riddles.  We do one each day."

Syd wrote:  "We take turns taking Tom Turkey home."  Here are some pictures of the cubs who took him home this week.
Collin wrote:  "When you bring home Little Bear you do lots of stuff like watch a movie and you write about him."  Here are some pictures of children with Little Bear.

David wrote:  In our Scholastic Newspaper we talked in the classroom about veterans.  Nubs is a dog that doesn't have ears."  Mrs. Pruzin read the children about a dog (Nubs) that was in Iraq.

Spencer wrote:  "I did related facts in Math.  Ryan wrote: "We fed the word muncher."

Christian wrote: "At recess they played tag.  I played basketall with Ed.  I played tag."

Peyton wrote:  We played with the parachute in P.E.  We got in our lines in P.E.

Jonas wrote:  In A.R. you read a book and take a test.  You type in the title and take the test."
CONGRATULATIONS TO SHREYA!  She became an Honors Reader on Friday.

We are conducting an experiment with the left over pumpkins.  Adam wrote: "First we put a mushy pumpkin in a pot.  The pumpkin grew a plant."  We put soil on the bottom of the containers before we put in the rotting pumpkins and seeds.  There is mold growing along with the new seedlings.

The children wrote with goose quills and ink.  They made ABC hornbooks. Ed wrote: "We were learning about the Pilgrims and we wrote with quills.  We had to write our name.  We also had to write the alphabet.  Writing with quills was fun."  Here's a picture of a group of them making the hornbook:

Tom Turkey Goes Home with a Cub

The Cubs are taking Tom Turkey home in his special bag.  There's a book to read and his journal.  Each time he goes home the child who takes him writes a fiction story about him.  The cubs have enjoyed listening to his adventures and look forward to the rest of  the stories.  These are the cubs who took him home last week.
