I Dreamed by Ray A. Lingfelter

I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was
A young child's mind,
And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher; the tools she used
Were books and music and art.
One was a parent with a guiding hand
And a gentle, loving heart.

Day after day, the teacher toiled
With a touch that was deft and sure,
While the parent labored by his side
and polished and smoothed it o'er.

And when at last their work was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought;
For the things they had molded into the child
Could neither be sold nor bought.

And each agreed she would have failed
If she had worked alone,
For behind the parent stood the school,
and behind the teacher, the home.

Simple Truths for Teachers

"Approach the school year like a prospector.
You never know what gems you will discover."

"Good teachers move mountains for their students.
Great teachers show their students how to move mountains for themselves."

"THE ABILITY TO SAY "I don't know"
separates a good teacher from a mediocre one.
To say "Let's find out" is the mark of a great teacher."

(Original inspirations by: Georgann Freeman, Marie Jones, June Stevenson)

The Power of Kindness

"No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted."(Aesop)

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless." (Mother Teresa)

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single minute before starting to improve the world." (Anne Frank)

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has." (Margaret Mead)

"Remember there's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end."
