On the last day of school I had each cub write advice or a note to my new cubs that would be in Bear Country for the 2010-2011 school year. Here's what they wrote:

"Mrs. Pruzin is a good teacher and she dances on the table." (Megan)
"I hope you have a great time with Mrs. Pruzin." (Alexis)
"In Bear Country do not be mean. It is a good and fun thing." (Madeleine)
"Mrs. Pruzin likes to dance on the table." (Colton)
"I think you will like when Mrs. Pruzin dances on the table." (Mikayla)
"She helps you a lot!!!!!!!" (Alex)
"Have a good day in Bear Country. Don't make Mrs. Pruzin upset. O.K." (Katarina)
"Pay attention to Mrs. Pruzin. Do your work your Personal Best." (Phoebe)
"Hi. One thing to make Mrs. Pruzin happy is to not talk. She dances on the table. She is the best!" (Tiffany)
"Mrs. Pruzin is funny. If you want to be happy, be quiet. Otherwise Mrs. Pruzin will yell. Have fun in first grade!" (Alicia)
"You need to listen." (Breydan)
"Mrs. Pruzin is nice. She dances on the table when you get an A.R. trophy."

Ben's Crabs Came to Bear Country!
Ben brought his crabs to school. They were named Moon and Hermit. They were awesome. Moon was shy. (Jumana)
Ben brought his crabs over for us to see. We got to pass one around. (Mikayla)
I got to look at Ben's crabs. (Zach)
Ben brought his hermit crabs. (Colton)
Ben brought his hermit crabs. There were two. Their names were Hermit and Moon. (Caleb)
Ben brought his hermit crabs to school. Moon is very shy. (Alicia)
I learned that hermit crabs only live for 3 to 4 months. (Megan)
Ben brought his crabs to show. (Lauren)
I brought my pet crabs to school. (Ben)
I learned about Ben's crabs. (Reis)
Hermit crabs live for about 29 months. (Tiffany)
Ben brought his hermit crabs to school. I learned that hermit crabs live in shells. (Branden)

The Cubs are "Mad" About Science!
We had Mad Science come to our class on Friday. This is what the children wrote about the lesson:
Breydan: We learned about carbon dioxide.
Madison: In Mad Science we learned a new word.
Alexis: Caleb was fun to see.
Zachary: In Mad Science Caleb put a cork on a bottle with dry ice and water in it. The cork flew off.
Meikelo: Today Mad Science came and he mixed dry ice with water.
Hayden: In Mad Science we made week acid.
Chloe: The scientist showed us a bottle and put cool liquid in it.
Alex: I learned that if you put dry ice in a bottle with a steel top, it would break the bottle and the bottle would be a grenade!
Phoebe: From the Mad Science guy we saw dry ice and we found out what dry ice is made of.
Katarina: We learned 3 words from Mad Science.
Ethan: In Mad Science we learned about dry ice. My favorite thing that happened was when the cork on the bottle popped off.
Branden: The scientist taught us about dry ice. Dry is -109 degrees.
Tiffany: In Mad Science we learned about dry ice.
Reis: I learned two words in Mad Science.
Ben: In Mad Science we learned about dry ice.
Lauren: Today in science we learned about dry ice.
Jonathan: I learned about do not touch dry ice.

Honors Reader and Double Honors Reader Dance!
Bear Country celebrated with these two children because they reached their goal. One became an Honors Reader in the school's A.R. club. The other earned 70 A.R. points (Double Honors). The whole class has earned an Honors trophy now. Their teacher is very proud of all her cubs. The class has read 5, 272 A.R. books this year!
