The Cubs Report About the Week of Aug. 23, 2010

Adam:  We do the calendar.

Peyton:  I like recess!  I like reading!  I like lunch!  I like Tucson!  I like school!

Alexandra:  At math we make graphs.

Adriana:  I like doing math.

Mason:  We wrote a poem. We learned math. (2+2=4)

Syd:  I play on the playground.  I invited someone over to play.

Vincent:  At recess I played a fun game.  I really like recess.  Josie chased me.

Claire:  I picked a book at the library.  I caught a moth.  I ate at the lunchroom with my friend.

Spencer:  We checked out a book.  I like to play on the swings with my friend.

Cristian:  At recess we play shark tag.  I rented a book on newts.  A newt eats insects that look like a lizard.  Reporter Cristian...at your service!

Michael:  I read a book at the library.

Megan:  I read a book in the library.

Bethania:  I read in the library.  I played on the playground.  I ate a sandwich.

Abby:  In art we colored pictures.  Bears live in dens.  They eat honey and they eat fish.

Ryan:  I did a cave drawing at art.  I learned about some bears.

Desirae:  We had papes that look like an animal and then we copied t.  Then we drew on the papers. 

Jonas:  Bears have web feet.  Bears eat fish.  We did cave drawings in art.

Christian:  We played a game at P.E.  We played a game at Music.  I like music. 

Ed:  We tried to win paints in P.E.  In music we sang. 

Sophie:  I played in P.E.

Shreya:  At musicI was playing as the cat.  At P.E. I was getting some paints. 

Nikolas:  I play.

Amanda:  We played a game in P.E.  In music we played a game.  In the lunch room we ate food.

David:  We played a game in P.E.  In music we played a game.  In the lunch room we eat food.

Diego;  We played in P.E.  It was Ed's birthday.  I played X-Men with Syd.  I have a play date with Syd today.  I eat in the lunch room.

First Full Week of School

The children all chose a Reading buddy to read to during Self Selected Reading time.  When A.R. Club starts they will earn a bead on a necklace for every 5 points that they earn.  The reading buddy will go home with each child at the end of the school year.  The cubs love reading to their reading buddies!

Our Bear Hunt (2010)

We went on a Bear Hunt on the first day of school. The cubs were great at reading all the clues. This year's cubs are just as grrreat as last year's cubs! We had three wonderful days in Bear Country. The next post will be written by my new cubs. Look for the post on Saturday.

On the last day of school I had each cub write advice or a note to my new cubs that would be in Bear Country for the 2010-2011 school year. Here's what they wrote:

Honors Readers and Top Readers for First Grade

The cubs all earned an honors trophy in the school's A.R. club.  Three of the cubs earned the most A.R. points for all of the first grade classes.  Their teacher is very proud of all of them.
